Because I am a Girl I ask….. myself if I fit into one of two gender categories.

Because I am a Girl I believe….. every individual has a unique gender identity.

Because I am a Girl I hope…. my children have the courage to find theirs and the freedom to express it.

Because I am a Girl I wonder…. what an equal division of labor looks like inside the home.

Because I am a Girl I dream about… my partner exercising his right to raise children, cook and clean.

Because I am a Girl I remember… how my mother managed a successful career in the tech industry.

Because I am a Girl I like…. that she overcame barriers of workplace discrimination and unequal pay.

Because I am a Girl I dislike… that she fell victim to an overload of domestic responsibility.

Because I am a Girl I feel men…. deserve to be included in gender and development interventions.

Because I am a Girl I celebrate… their contributions.
