Rebecca Allen

Therapist and Plan Sponsor

I am a proud Mother of two girls. I live in rural County Leitrim with my daughters, two chickens, an elderly loyal dog and a polytunnel that needs attention. In my spare time I’m training for a mini triathlon which is quite something as this time last year I had convinced myself I didn’t have time for exercise but as we all know, health is wealth. We are fans of Plan Ireland and sponsor a child in Nepal which I know has enriched our own lives but also Sharmillas’ life in Nepal too with the support she is receiving from various community projects made possible with Plan support. I love the way the organisation works in consultation with the community to find out what it is they want and need to improve their lives.

I love my job in which I use a combination of Shiatsu massage therapy, meditation and coaching. Apart from working a lot on physical neck, back and shoulder pain I also specialise in a couple of specific areas.

Helping recently divorced or separated women to rediscover inner peace and love for themselves so that they can move forward with their lives in a positive way to happiness. Helping carers (counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, home carers, helpline volunteers and drop in/day centre employees etc) to avoid burnout, increase energy and reduce stress so that they can continue in their demanding but highly rewarding jobs with passion, health and energy.

You can find out more about my work here and here, or try a free meditation for beginners on my YouTube channel.

Because I am a Girl I ask … to be heard.

Because I am a Girl I believe … that global change begins with making even tiny but constant changes in oneself.

Because I am a Girl I hope … that the ripple effect will carry the positive changes each one of us makes to all corners of the earth.

Because I am a Girl I wonder … how my daughters will choose to live their lives and I am thankful that they have a choice.

Because I am a Girl I dream … of living with constant curiosity and a sense of adventure which I believe helps us to live long, healthy and happy lives.

Because I am a Girl I remember … how my Mother encouraged me to follow my dreams.

Because I am a Girl I am … good at expressing my emotions, and that’s a good thing, even if its sometimes messy!

Because I am a Girl I dislike … gossip. There are much more positive things we can put our energies into.

Because I am a Girl I feel … I should support other girls and women through challenging times in their lives so they can emerge stronger, wiser and happier with who they are.

Because I am a Girl I celebrate … every moment of my life, the laughter, tears, pain, happiness … the rich and beautiful tapestry of life
