Girls in crisis risk becoming child brides
Every year, millions of girls across the globe are forced to marry men, sometimes two or three times their age. This has increased dramatically as a result of mass migration worldwide.
Child marriage in a refugee situation is seen as a last resort; a desperate response to the extreme circumstances of refugee livelihoods. Many parents believe that marriage is the only way they can provide for and protect their daughters in an increasingly impoverished situation.
