Responding to COVID-19

One billion children are currently out of school to curb the spread of COVID-19. Plan International has prepared programmes that enable children to continue their school work at home.

Pictured below is Raina, she lives in a small community on the south east coast of Mozambique. Mozambique has among the highest rates of child marriage and teenage pregnancy in the world. We must keep girls in school to keep them safe.

To help girls like Raina access education during the pandemic, we have launched a distance learning programme to reach 8,000 out-of-school secondary school children in lnhambane province.

We are working with teachers to use local radios stations to broadcast lessons to help children continue learning while they are away from the classroom.
