Meet 14 Year-Old Peninah

Now she is unafraid and doesn’t miss school.

Missing a day of school due to illness makes sense, but should girls drop out of because of their period?

Re-usable pads are keeping girls in school, giving them a freedom to carry on with their studies. Plan International supporters have helped out through small, but significant donations. The cost of protecting a future – just €3 could help cover the cost of 2 re-usable sanitary pads.

Peninah, 14, used to be afraid to go to school. She was worried her old rags and toilet paper would leak, so she stayed home.

I didn’t want that to happen so I decided to stay at home when I had my period. I missed a lot of lessons.

Now she is unafraid and doesn’t miss school.
