Plan Rwanda aims to improve the economic security of children and communities. Among the targets of this programme are unemployment and social-political disempowerment among youths, who form the majority of the population.
Plan supports life skills education and innovative approaches to skills acquisition and economic empowerment to promote the participation of youth in community development.
Plan supports the Amizero Training Centre and Tailoring Cooperative which offers free six month mechanics or tailoring internships. The mechanics class can accommodate over 200 young people from vulnerable families while the tailoring class can cater for over 100. These young people, between 17-25, are able to board at a local school free of charge during the duration of their course.
