Education: Reaska, 12, Cambodia
Children are the bamboo shoots of society,” says Reaksa, 12, a volunteer peer educator at her Plan supported school in Cambodia. “We had a meeting to form a learning group and children were selected, then after we had training… The project provides learning materials like books, pencils, chalks and a small chalk board for lessons.”
Disaster Response: Jednal, 10, The Philippines
“I was happy when school opened again in January. We have lessons in a tent, but it doesn’t matter,” says Jednel, 10, from Leyte in the Philippines. He and his family survived Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 but his home was destroyed and his school was wrecked. Educationin emergencies is a priority for Plan.
