Amy first joined Plan Ireland in 2014. After completing a B.A in Physics with Astrophysics from Trinity College Dublin she was quick to decide that a career in science probably wasn’t the best fit and set off for Nepal to try something completely different.
A short-term volunteering placement turned into a 3 year posting, working with a local organisation responding to the needs of trafficked and displaced children, including work on family tracing and reunification. On return to Ireland she completed her M.A in Development Studies from Kimmage Development Studies Centre and shortly afterwards joined Plan International Ireland as an intern.
She went on to work with Plan Cameroon during the CAR refugee response and Plan Germany on their DRM team but returned to Plan International Ireland and the position of Development Programmes Desk Officer in 2017.
Since February 2020 Amy works as Global Safeguarding and PSHEA Technical Specialist for Plan International.
Outside of work she loves to explore Dublin, especially Phoenix Park, go to the theatre, listen to podcasts and music, and spend time with friends and family.
