Child Rights & Advocacy Officer

Vanina joined Plan in January 2011 as Child Rights and Advocacy Officer to develop Plan Ireland's advocacy strategy and mainstream a child rights-based approach to programmes. Since 2013, Vanina has coordinated Plan Ireland’s Child Rights Programme portfolio which includes strategic lead, management and growth of international programmes relating to children's rights and the coordination of Irish-based advocacy initiatives for the promotion of children's rights.

Vanina joined Plan in January 2011 as Child Rights and Advocacy Officer to develop Plan Ireland’s advocacy strategy and mainstream a child rights-based approach to programmes. Since 2013, Vanina has coordinated Plan Ireland’s Child Rights Programme portfolio which includes strategic lead, management and growth of international programmes relating to children’s rights and the coordination of Irish-based advocacy initiatives for the promotion of children’s rights.

Vanina holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the Irish Centre for Human Rights. Prior to Plan, she worked as an advocacy officer, legal researcher and programme coordinator with both UN agencies and leading Child Rights INGOs. Her area of expertise is legal protection of children’s rights, specifically relating to the issues of child trafficking, abuse and exploitation, sexual and gender-based violence, juvenile justice and birth registration. Since 2006, she has experienced diverse and complex working environments including South East Asia, Palestine, northern Uganda, West Africa and Central America.

Outside of Plan, she plays for the Guinness Ladies Hockey Club, loves rummaging through flea markets and meeting friends for wine and chats.
