For almost 80 years we’ve been taking action and standing up for every child’s right to fulfil their potential. On a daily basis, our energy is devoted to making a difference for children living in poverty. We stand up for children’s rights. We listen to the children we work with and find the best way forward together.
Established in 2003, Plan International Ireland is a dynamic organisation that supports Plan International’s work worldwide. Plan International Ireland has over 8,000 regular givers who support our work primarily through child sponsorship. In addition, funding is currently received from a variety of sources primarily the public through various fundraising initiatives, Irish Aid, the EU, corporates, trade unions, and trust and foundations.
The Development Education Committee is a voluntary group within Plan International Ireland. The role of a member is to:
To advise, guide and input into Plan International Ireland’s Development Education Strategy;
Complete an induction on the work of Plan International Irelands work together with a training on Plan International Ireland’s workshop sessions for post primary schools and youth clubs;
Facilitate workshops on an ad hoc basis and represent Plan International Ireland when required;
Work alongside the Development Education and Advocacy Officer to support the establishment of a Youth Advisory Panel and support trainings required by the Youth Advisory Panel when in place;
To operate at all times within the ethos, mission, underpinning principles and core values of Plan International Ireland;
Be willing to submit a Garda Vetting application;
We are looking for committed people to work with us to increase Plan International Ireland’s Development Education capacity:
Support of Plan International Ireland’s Vision and Mission.
Interest in delivering Development Education activities, or;
Interest in education on Global Justice or International Development Issues, or;
Interest in gaining facilitation skills, adult education, youth or community work, or;
Interest in awareness raising, advocacy or lobbying;
Commitment of one year to the Committee and attending evening monthly meetings;
Commitment to Development Education activities;
Willingness to undergo Development Education and facilitation training.
