The Himalayan Panorama trek from the Annapurna foothills to the top of Poon Hill (3210m) is one of the most amazing trekking routes in Nepal offering spectacular Himalayan mountain scenery.
Our guides and porters for our trek, provided by the Umbrella Trekking Company, are fully registered, and very experienced, who assured us it is safe to go ahead with our trek.
The charming settlements of Gurung with its slate-roofed houses, amazing rhododendron forests ablaze with ivory, rose, apricot and crimson bouquets and deep sub-tropical valleys all set below the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. During the 9 day trek, the group will visit Plan projects along the way in Baglung or Myagdi and seeing Plan’s work with children, families and communities first-hand. Reaching altitudes of more than 3,000 m, you will discover the ancestral traditions of the local people and immerse yourself completely in the spectacular mountain wilderness of the Annapurna Circuit.
Plan International has been working in Nepal since 1978, so was very well placed to respond and provide vital emergency aid following the earthquake. We have been helping communities to rebuild, providing shelter and water kits to over 195,000 people. As with all our work, children are our priority, and we have already begun creating temporary learning spaces for children to continue their education and also child friendly spaces to ensure children are kept safe and protected, while also having the opportunity to play again.
Rising to 3,210m, the Poon Hill trek in the Annapurna Conservation Area will provide you with gradual climbs, a beautiful environment and a spectacular sunrise over the Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Dhaulagiri mountains.
The cost of participating in Plan Ireland Nepal trek covers international flights and transfers, local accommodation and in-country travel. All funds raised will go towards Plan’s ongoing sustainable development programmes putting children at the heart of our work.
